Arrakkal Museum or Arakkal Kettu
Arrakkal Museum is an important place of attractions in Kannur district located at a distance of 3 Km from Kannur. The Arrakkal is in fact a division of the Arakkalkettu or Arakkal Palace. The durbar hall part of the palace has been transformed into a museum. The Arrakkal Museum is dedicated to the Arakkal family, the only Muslim royal family in Kerala. The museum was inaugurated in July 2005.
Even though renovated from the Government of Kerala, the Arakkalkettu remains to be owned by Arakkal Family Trust and will not come under the management of Archaeological Survey of India. The government had taken a keen interest in protecting the heritage of Arakkal Family that had played a major part in the history of Malabar. A reasonable entrance fee is charged by Arakkal Family Trust from visitors to the museum.
